Mr. Goodfriend is the Co-founder of The Alberleen Group. After the departure Alberleen’s Co-founder and CEO, Jolyne Caruso in June of 2019, Mr. Goodfriend assumed the title of CEO in addition to his responsibilities as Alberleen’s Chief Investment Officer. He is responsible for all of Alberleen’s principal merchant banking and direct investing activities and for determining the overall investment strategy for the firm including Alberleen’s Direct Impact Investing focus.
Mr. Goodfriend has over 25 years of investment banking, capital markets, and asset management experience. From 1990 to 2003, he was responsible for structuring and executing public and private transactions, initially as a founding member of the high-yield bond origination group of Chase Securities (a predecessor of JP Morgan Chase). He was a product group head at SG Cowen, and subsequently a managing director at Bank of America Securities. In 2003, Mr. Goodfriend left banking to co-found The Airlie Group, a $1.2 billion high-yield bond and leveraged-loan hedge fund. He subsequently held senior investment positions in ultra-high-net-worth family offices. He earned his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
